I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Beer Drinkers to the Location Based Marketing game! There are 16 million Foursquare users Worldwide and more and more companies are throwing their hats into the ring.
Foursquare opened up their Application Programming Interface (API) so that developers could create secondary apps on top of their platform. 2 years ago Foursquare predicted that developers will create even cooler things with their ever-growing database while they focus on creating the best Location Based App.
Knowing this, it’s almost hard to believe that it took 2 years for a Social Beer Drinking app. With the explosion of the Craft Beer scene, it seems only logical. Breweries are also pushing more seasonal brews and special releases. The home brewer is another group that could benefit from a Social Network based on Beer.
So, all of this “revolution” leads us to Untappd – A Fun, New, Mobile-Based Social Network for Beer Enthusiasts. Now you can post a mini-blog about that new Dogfish Head’s Faithful Ale commemorating Pearl Jam’s 20th Anniversary of their first album 10. Add with that tasting notes, a picture of the delicious subject and THE PLACE YOU FOUND IT! You see that’s really the key to Location Based Marketing, heck it’s right in the name.
