The UNLVino Grand Tasting will be The Grandest Tasting of All

UNLVino

Every year the highlight of Southern Wine & Spirit’s UNLVino fundraiser is The Grand Tasting and this year’s offering will be the biggest EVER.

This year’s event is moving back to the Paris after a year at Bally’s. Personally, I like the Grand Tastings at Paris. The grand ballroom is so large everything is contained in a single room; the auction, the wine, the spirits and the craft beer will all be in one room!

That’s right. You heard correctly. This year’s UNLVino WILL be the largest because in addition to the wine, sparkling wine and sake served at the previous UNLVinos, we will also be serving samples of our ever growing catalog of liquor and craft beer.

Another big change this year is the time. Previous UNLVino’s have always taken place in the afternoon usually ending before most parties begin. That’s not the case this year. For the first time ever the Grand Tasting will be held from 7pm to 10pm!

Yes, you read that correctly friends. The Grand Tasting will be during Prime Time. So you can have a light bite, try some new liquor and wine libations then take the Saturday night party to the club of your choice! Safely… as with previous UNLVino’s we’ll have the breathalyzer booth and Designated Drivers on hand to let you know if you are legally capable of driving and offering you an alternative if you aren’t. Or better yet, grab a room at the Paris or one of the adjoining properties and really make a night of it.

Please share this exciting information with all of your friends and please join us when we “Take a Sip for Charity!’

Sake Fever Moves to the Mirage Pool April 1st

That’s right sake lovers! A new addition to the UNLVino lineup last year has proved that sake is here to stay and this year we needed a venue that can handle the crowds we saw last year.

This year Sake Fever moves from the Palms Pool to the Mirage. The success of last year’s inaugural event proved to organizers that they were on to something. The pool at the Mirage promises to offer lots of space for people to mingle and toast as they enjoy what is shaping up to be the LARGEST sake tasting event in Nevada.

You won’t want to miss out this year as we pair together your favorite restaurants, sake, beer and sake cocktails April 1st. Tickets are $50 presale and $75 at the door.

We hope to see you there! Kanpai!

Rock Sake is taking Vegas by Storm

Rock Sake is an “American Made” sake that has been taking Vegas by storm. This amazingly versatile and crisp sake is best served cold or as a co-star in cocktails.

Founder Seth Podell made the drive out from LA to Vegas in September to personally pour his Rock Sake at the Sake Sessions event at The Tropicana Hotel and Casino. Be sure to read his story on rocksake.com and discover what inspired him in this noble undertaking.

Here are a few examples of where you can find Rock Sake straight-up and in cocktails around town.

Koi at Planet Hollywood has brought in Rock Saké and offers both Rock Saké Cloud and Rock Saké Junmai Ginjo in both sizes by the bottle or in the Curiously Cucumber sakétini found on the cocktail menu.

At Bellagio’s Petrossian Bar, Rock Saké Cloud is an essential element to a twist on the classic Avation cocktail.  In this version, foam made from Rock Saké Cloud assumes the shape of clouds placed atop the cocktail.

As featured in Vegas Seven’s Cocktail Couture, the Lakeside Grill at the Wynn Resort carries the Fresh cocktail, which includes Rock Saké Cloud.

Rock Saké is sure to continue making moves to the other notable restaurants and cocktail hotspots in Las Vegas.  For more information including cocktail recipes, please visit http://www.rocksake.com.
